Transmission

The Chestnut Solar Project will enter the PJM interconnection through an AEP Transmission line called North Waldo - Wildcreek 138 kV line

Chestnut Solar will be submitted for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to the Ohio Power Siting Board in December.  At 68 MW, the Project will be constructed and operate within an approximately 500-acre area of privately owned land in Marion County, Ohio.  National Renewable Energy Corporation plans to commence construction of the facility early in 2024 and place the facility in service by 2025.

The Project is located primarily in an agricultural area where active commercial farming is ongoing. A state route runs parallel to the project site and the site currently has a high voltage transmission line bisecting it.

The Project will consist of solar photo-voltaic panels and will not use any fuel, any appreciable amount of water, and it will not generate any air pollution, water pollution, or hazardous waste.  The equipment comprising the Project will have very few moving parts and will make almost no audible sound. The electricity from the Project will be injected into the regional transmission grid supporting regional business and infrastructure.  The township and county will benefit from an influx of tax dollars and the project will create well-paying jobs during construction and operations.  The project also offers a diversification of income for agricultural property and local tax sources.
