Overview
Chestnut is a proposed 68 MW solar project located in Marion County, OH, which is expected to generate enough energy to power up to 12,000 homes per year. The project will consist of interconnected solar modules mounted on racking. Narenco has been working with the community, township, county, and state to permit this project since 2017.
The site in Marion County was selected for its flat land and for its strategic location on the regional electrical transmission system.
New Economic Opportunity in Marion County
The Project is located on 500 acres of agricultural land that can be returned to agricultural use after the project is decommissioned. Construction of the facility is expected to begin in 2024 and take about 12 months. Chestnut Solar will offer a new source of economic development with long-term local and state tax revenue for local services and public infrastructure. The power generated by the solar panels will be delivered into the regional electrical system, helping to diversify the area’s energy mix.
